Association of Fire and Safety Engineering
THE ASSOCIATION OF FIRE & SAFETY ENGINEERING (Czech abbrev. SPBI) has been put to life in the fall of 1993 and got registered in January 1994 at the Czech Interior Ministry. The reason for establishing a citizen’s association as a non-profit organization was based on an effort to create a platform for ongoing education of members and staff members of rescue services.
The Association for Fire & Safety Engineering is currently the only publisher in the Czech Republic that focuses and bears in mind special Fire protection and Industrial safety. Until now we have published of genuine expert literature in the so called SPBI SPEKTRUM red series and in the SPBI SPEKTRUM blue series. The red series is dedicated for genuine literature and the blue series for comments on misc. regulations, testing methodology, program equipment instructions etc. Publications are published in the Czech language. In addition to this we publish in a co-operation with the Faculty of Safety Engineering an acyclic reviewed SPEKTRUM magazine.
The leading activity involves publishing and organizing national as well as international scientific conferences. The most important one is the „Fire Protection“ conference, held under the auspices of the chancellor of the Ostrava - based technical university and of the general director of the Czech firefighter’s main salvage and rescue service (HZS ČR). Such a conference invites annually approx. 400 experts from the Czech & Slovak republic, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, the Ukraine, and from another European countries.
